Meet the Vet Team

2019 NSW State Championship Head Vet -  Darien Feary.

Darien spent all her younger years’ endurance riding. Since becoming a specialist in large animal internal medicine and equine emergency & critical care she has been fortunate to be part of the clinical education of veterinary students in universities in Australia and the U.S.

I am pleased to be working with a fabulous team of knowledgeable and experienced veterinarians at the 2019 NSW State Champs. All of the veterinary team are here for your horse and to work with you to give you every possible chance of success. Do not hesitate to speak with us about any concerns you may have during your ride. This beautiful and challenging track demands respect and skill; you will love it. Do your best and enjoy the ride!

Treatment Vet for the 2019 State Championship is - David Brown.

David is a practitioner from the South Coast NSW. He first vetted endurance in 1990 and since then has been Head Vet at numerous Quilty’s and Shahzada’s and obtained 4* FEI ranking. He has been treatment vet at Quilty and state rides and Team Vet at World Equestrian Games. David obtained admission to the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists (ANZCVS) by examination in Equine Medicine. He still rides and competes and is looking forward to being involved in this challenging ride.

Benjamin Reynolds grew up in the Hunter Valley surrounded by horses (and lots of other animals) from a young age. After graduating from veterinary school, he worked in Brisbane and vetted numerous endurance rides, including the QLD State Championships. Ben has recently moved to Sydney and is eager to be involved in as many endurance events as possible and feels privileged to be involved in the NSW State Championships. Outside of work, he enjoys basketball, going to the gym and enjoying live music. Ben has heard wonderful things about the Colo country, and hopes you are as excited as he to be out here!

Georgia Ladmore has grown up on the Mid North Coast of NSW, riding horses in Pony Club, dressage and endurance. For the past 5 years she has been working in Wagga Wagga, NSW. You would have seen Georgia vetting many of the southern rides and enjoying how endurance is such a great way to explore this part of the state! This year has her working, vetting at rides, and planning her wedding (happily taking tips and advice)! In her down time Georgia is in the gym and dabbling with triathlons. Current goals include taking the endurance motto to triathlons- to Complete is to Win! Georgia is still in awe of all that our horses give us. She loves endurance as a sport- the stamina, the tenacity and the community. Georgia is looking forward to the 2019 State Championships like every ride: we have a great veterinary team and we all want to see you succeed,

Nicole Mace is originally from Sydney, and has since settled on the far south coast of NSW to work as a mixed practice veterinarian in Moruya. Nicole has also had the opportunity to work as a race vet for the local Thoroughbred races, and has been involved with the south coast zone endurance rides for the past few years. She has truly been working with all creatures great and small and often helps out the local zoo in Mogo with their veterinary work too. Zebras aren’t as easy to manage as horses! Outside of work Nicole travels, hits the beach with her two Neapolitan mastiffs and trail rides. This will be Nicole’s first state ride and she is looking forward to seeing some top equine athletes and their riders compete!

Ben Graham after being imported from the UK, Ben grew up on a property just outside of Canberra. He spent his free time riding in the hills and doing plenty of Pony Club on his various ponies, leading into open eventing as he got older. I always knew he wanted to be a vet and now spend my days looking after thoroughbred racehorses in Sydney, Melbourne and at surrounding spelling and rehabilitation centres.

When Ben is not at the racetrack he uses any excuse to get out of the city, enjoying camping (especially at endurance rides) with his kelpie, waterskiing and flying light sport planes.

Ben is very much looking forward to the State Championship ride and helping everyone take great care of their wonderful horses. Please don’t hesitate to approach us if your horse needs help or you need questions answered!
